From modest beginnings in 1972, a mix of ability, agility, flexibility and responsiveness together with investment and innovation has allowed us to thrive and grow – within a highly competitive marketplace and often during very challenging times.

1972
John Whitehouse and Lou Simmonds start the business from John's home conservatory selling Daikin air conditioning equipment with a first order worth £585.
1978
We expand into new premises and start to manufacture our own HVAC equipment.
1980
Telecoms takes off, we build our first telephone exchange cooling unit for BT.
1985
Our retail journey begins with a first order from Tesco for a ‘packaged’ rooftop air conditioning unit. We move into larger premises and double workforce to cope with expanding demand.
1998
A complementary acquisition - we take on DLT Shopfronts & Shutters, soon to develop into Weatherite Aluminium Solutions.
2001
Our retail portfolio expands with JLP/Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Next and Primark.
2002
Weatherite Group acquired FR Electrical Limited as part of our expansion programme.
2006
We move to larger premises in West Bromwich to manage increasing demand.
2008
We capitalise on our extensive knowledge of IT mission critical cooling techniques with further expansion into the data centre marketplace.
2012
40 years in business and still growing.
2014
Virtus, EE, Equinix, Vodafone, Virgin Media, Keysource, Redcentric, Bouygues, CBRE join our client portfolio and we win Won Heating & Ventilation (H&V) Award for ‘Best Collaboration’.
2016
Group Chairman John Whitehouse is the winner of the Fred Jamieson Award for Industry Achievement at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards.
2017
We win our biggest single data cooling order valued at over €12m.
2018
We add logistics, health, education, and multi-outlet fast food retail sectors to our portfolio and become one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of quality, made to measure, HVAC equipment for all major sectors.
2019
We win the UK Energy Management Product Award for developing a cooling solution that saved BT over £5m per annum and reduced carbon emissions by 50%.
2020
Business continues to grow and we continue to invest – in recruiting new staff and apprentices, factory capacity, new testing facilities, and new machinery.
2022
We celebrate 50 years in business and look ahead with optimism to the next 50!
2023
McDonald's awarded us Supplier of the Year. We made a £1 million investment into solar panels.
